About love, connection, and a note on the purpose of this blog

YNH (Yuval Noah Harari) once said in 21 lessons for the 21st century - Q&A:

"To love means to be liberated from the obsession with whatever thoughts, emotions, and desires pop into my own mind right now, and instead to listen to others and see what is happening with them."

There will never be enough pleasure, and pleasure won't last forever. Relationships which are built upon only pleasure: beauty, property, assets, impressive skills, clever puns, etc., are bound to collapse, because sooner or later, those things will become old, and you will get bored of them, and somebody else with even more pleasure to offer would come by. You will have to chase pleasure until you die, because there is no ceiling for how much pleasure is enough, so even then, you would still have achieved nothing. On the other hand, someone who is connected to you, who feel the same way as you, is a cornerstone in your life that would never just fade away. Nevertheless, pleasant experiences are a great cataract for creating great connections.

But people tend to get distracted rather easily. Our sense of love and justice works best 10000 years ago on African savannahs, in hunting and gathering tribes. Like many things from the past it has left us unpleasant side effects in today's life. Chasing pleasure instead of connection in the past was actually rewarding. Now, it leaves dire consequences for everyone. We cannot trust our primitive brain anymore. And it doesn't seem like we can change how we feel, in other words changing the brain itself, any time soon. We would have to cope with what we have, like always. Perhaps inventing new tools, leaving it for the algorithm to decide to whom we should marry, which career to choose, etc.? Or should we take it in the back of our minds, that being unfaithful is a sin to God, the old-fashioned way? It is probably best for everyone if we can just be honest. God is a lie, so algorithm it is? How can we make this secure, so that we are going to drive ourselves like cars, and not the Big Data Brother? Have we humans ever been free of manipulation from the powerful?

Fiction is a source of strength and connection. Without fiction, the world is just a ball of dirt. Too much fiction, and God has created the Earth from his two bare hands, resting it upon a man's shoulder as his punishment. Humans has always functioned on a healthy dose of lies and truths blend. And humans function by cooperate with other humans: connection. They must feel the same way as one another to try to achieve the same goal together. So connection also functions on a healthy does of lies and truths, in the broad picture.

Note: I don't know where to go from here, and how to make this release a topic about something concrete, so I'll just leave it like this. I also have a listing on how the myth "What you do on Lunar New Year is going to affect your whole year" I wrote under influence, in essence it is because that's the day the weather starts to get better, the transition from winter to spring. However, that doesn't really solve why what you did on that day will repeat or affect the whole year, since if the days are getting better you should be able to do better nonetheless. The listing also covered which parts of the world are likely to experience the most radical change on Lunar New Year's eve, particularly the regions of the latitudes of China and the surrounding countries. However, again, I failed to consider the cultural aspect of the region, and why central Europe and America continents are in the same latitudes of China but do not celebrate Lunar New Year, and definitely do not have the same myth.

I have also written and rewritten the main idea of this blog, edited it a lot, but nothing seems to feel good and coherent, so fuck it, I tried. As usual, what I write is mainly my emotions being poured out at the time, sometimes just for the sake of putting words onto paper, for no particular reason. I don't write to educate anybody, or even to share any interesting worldview. These are just words. Whether they mean a thing or not, is not of the importance here. But they should be. So I try to put in more thoughts on how to make it insightful, interesting, comforting, easing. Words can be much more than just words. That's what literature is all about. To bring some sort of value to the readers. I am just trying to benefit from writing. I don't give a fuck about who is reading this. This is not literature. That has been the theme of this whole blog all along.

I want to be something more than just doing this for myself, but that would mean to discard the purpose of me writing in the first place. So while I do appreciate people reading my blog, I hope they don't expect anything much. Only serious relationships require connection, anyway.
